Public image links¶
A public share of selected photos gives each image a permanent link that a website or document can use. The image is served by Picsha at the size you ask for, and always shows the asset's newest version, so a replaced photo updates everywhere it is embedded.
Getting a link¶
- In Picsha DAM, select the photos and click Share, switch the share to Public, and click Create Link (see Sharing).
- Under Image links for web pages, choose a width: Small 800, Medium 1200, Large 1600 or Extra large 2400 pixels.
- Click Copy link next to an image for the URL, or Copy HTML for an
<img>tag you can paste into a page.
Visitors to the public share page see the same Image link beside each asset.
The link¶
https://<your organization>.dam.picsha.com/s/<share token>/i/<asset id>?w=1600
wis the width in pixels; the height follows the image's proportions. Leave it out for the share's default size.- The format is negotiated from the browser's
Acceptheader: a browser that accepts WebP gets WebP, and AVIF when your organization has turned it on under Asset Visibility in Picsha Admin; otherwise JPEG. Ask for a format in code by sending the matchingAcceptheader. - The link works for as long as the share does and the asset stays in it. Set the share to stop working after 7, 30 or 90 days if the link should expire, or delete the share to stop every link in it at once.
- Password-protected shares do not serve image links to visitors who have not entered the password.
Image links are for public web use. They carry no sign-in and are cached by browsers and content delivery networks, so use a private share, or signed links, for images that must not be public.
